Gorgeous Jane. It's so wonderful to see you getting a little more light into your world after a very dark end to 2024 - literally, figuratively, all of it. Gavin's newsletter is terrific, I am so pleased I found that one, huge community service. And the approach to MS you're taking is the one I try to do to - 1% gains. After all, if the first step is too hard, it's just because you haven't made it small enough.
Hi Jane, great post, chimes with me in so many ways. MS becomes a way of life doesn't it, and not always in a bad way. Most of the marginal gains would be good for anyone, MS makes you focus on yourself, at least it should. I've been reading Gabor Mate, and he would say that it's your body's way of making you look after yourself, giving yourself time and attention. I used to run, did the Great North Run (half marathon) just weeks before the relapse that got me diagnosed. I was lucky enough to be recommended an Iyengar yoga teacher with an interest in MS shortly after and now do 20-30 minutes every morning. I have no doubt that yoga is what keeps me mobile now. I am now post menopause as I had to have a hysterectomy last year. As I've had breast cancer too I can't have HRT, and was recommended sage to help with hot flushes. It didn't help much with them (am trying acupuncture now) but I did somehow feel better, so the scientist in me got me googling for research papers and the research is not on menopause but on Alzheimers as it helps with cognition! That's why I felt better, clear headed, less foggy, less fatigued. I highly recommend!
Thank you Victoria, I really appreciate your comments, and agree about MS somehow becoming a way of life. It’s really helpful to find out how other people are dealing with things, and it sounds like you’ve had some extra issues to deal with on top of MS too. I haven’t read any Gabor Mate but heard him on a couple of podcasts so that’s interesting.
Finally reading and so glad I did! Trying to do marginal improvements—the stretching is so boring—but love your exercise routine. I’ll steal that one.
You’re welcome! God yeah isn’t the stretching boring, I often put on a podcast to distract myself, and always a timer so I don’t have to count!!

Thank you Eliza, I really appreciate your kind words, it’s a relief to have come out the other side. I like your approach to starting small too.

ha, you too Deb! xx
🤣Anyone notice the marginal gins typo? I've corrected it now but pretty funny given the chat about alcohol consumption!
