Ch-ch-changes, oh, look out you rock ’n’ rollers
A short announcement: my blog has changed its name
“Kill your darlings!” said some long dead literary great about the process of writing. Meaning that when you’re editing your work you should be prepared to slay any parts of it that don’t serve its overall purpose, particularly those parts that you are really attached to.
So in that vein, and on what feels like good advice, I’m killing my own little darling, the name of my blog. The blog itself is very much alive, but the name “The Hobblicious Chronicles” is no more.
It was a fun and playful way to begin, but I’ve had to face the fact that amusing myself is not the key to the best marketing strategy in the world. No one really knows how to say hobblicious, let alone spell it. It’s a made-up word for godsakes. What did I expect? I know some of you liked it. Maybe I should have focus-grouped whether changing it was a good idea, but it’s too late now, my mind is made up. I’m sorry if you are disappointed 😉. More than likely you won’t even notice, especially if you read my posts directly from the email, rather than in the Substack App or website.
But it was starting to feel a bit silly. I mean imagine if Tony Flow And The Miraculously Majestic Masters Of Mayhem had never changed their name to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, or Mookie Blaylock had never become Pearl Jam. And don’t get me started on The Tea Set (Pink Floyd).
For the new name, I settled on “Notes from an MS Lifer” which was one of my original ideas for a blog name. Hopefully it gets across that (notwithstanding a cure) I’m here with this bugger for the duration, so there will be a lot to talk about. And it’s a far more sensible name, lets people know what the blog is about, and gives anyone searching for writing about MS more chance of finding it. I would like to reach more readers.
The only potential fly in the ointment with “MS Lifer” might be if the lovely researchers working tirelessly to find a cure for MS, do actually reach that goal whilst this blog is running.
An unlikely scenario. But definitely one I could live with.
See you soon
There's a lot I could live with in exchange for a cure. Funny how perspective changes...
Look forward to deep and meaningful comments and stories from a person living with MS.
